7th Grade Science
The seventh grade science curriculum is integrated covering physics, chemistry, and Earth science. This is a hands-on class involving approximately seventy-five lab activities that relate to the Massachusetts Frameworks for Science/Technology and Engineering. Emphasis is placed on understanding content, organization, note-taking skills, independent thinking, and time management. Students are expected to read, write, analyze, predict, and research information throughout the school year in a variety of activities. In addition to the regular science class, there is an independent science lab class. In science lab, students will become familiar with the scientific method through an inquiry-based lab experience. An inquiry-based lab experience is one designed and implemented completely by the individual student in order to answer a specific problem question. Some problem questions will be given to students while others will be generated by them. The regular science class meets every day, but science lab meets only ten days each term and concludes with a formal lab report written by the student.
