Spanish 1

Understanding spoken Spanish, speaking Spanish, reading Spanish, and writing in simple Spanish sentences. Students also learn about the many, diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world and the impact of Spanish on our own language and culture.

At the end of this course, students will
- Be able to pronounce the sounds of Spanish in an understandable manner.
- Understand simple spoken Spanish.
- Speak basic Spanish sentences.
- Read short texts in basic Spanish.
- Write a paragraph in Spanish
- Compare American culture with cultures in the Spanish-speaking world
- Identify cognates and Spanish words used in English.
