Environmental Science
This is a 3rd and 4th year science course that will make use of your coursework in Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry. This class is a detailed approach to understanding, scientifically, how the environment around you works, changes, adapts, and interacts. We’ll begin with a view of our environment’s ecosystems, then proceed to a human-based view of the resources that are vital to our society, and our effect upon these resources. Finally, we’ll spend a great deal of time on global climate change, from a local to global perspective.

Physical Science
The Honors Physical Science course at LMHS introduces students to the methodology of science through a challenging and detailed examination of our physical world. In this course, you will learn to think scientifically, in a way that allows you to explore, understand, and communicate the concepts of physical phenomena. You will explore every aspect of the natural world, from the bigger picture of our universe (astronomy) to the very elements that make up all matter (chemistry). Physical science includes a wide array of complex scientific problems, which require logical thinking, strong communication skills, and knowledge of basic algebra. These skills will be presented in our first units, but will continue to surface throughout the year. Therefore, you are not exempt from keeping up with your math, writing, and communication skill. These important skills will appear on tests and quizzes throughout the entire year, regardless of the unit we are covering at the time.
